American Library Assn does social media

The American Library Association (ALA) has created a wiki called Read Write Connect at http://wikis.ala.org/readwriteconnect. And they have a number of other wikis listed at http://wikis.ala.org/readwriteconnect/index.php/ALA_wikis. And they have put together a wiki for the ALA 2007 conference in DC at http://wikis.ala.org/annual2007/index.php/Main_Page.

By way of comparison, AIIM has two blogs and an infrequent podcast but no wiki just yet...and ARMA has none of the above. I think wikis are a great way to do conference support and speaker bureaus. John, Marilyn?

Jamie Notter and Jeff De Cagna, longtime association people and two of the five authors of
101 Things About Associations We Must Change, have put together a pretty good list of how associations are making use of social media at http://www.principledinnovationwikis.com/associationblogsandpodcasts/.

Jesse...

You missed a variety of activities over here at AIIM. Most notably, a variety of of standards groups, particularly the PDF groups, utilize a variety of wikis and have for some time.

Hi John,

You are correct with regards to the PDF groups, whose wikis are available at http://pdf.editme.com/PDFUA (and see links on that page for the others). I am unaware of any wikis for the other standards groups to date, and I think the big opportunities for AIIM would include TR-2 (discussed but not yet implemented) and as a repository/support structure for the conference program content.

Cheers,

Jesse
