Upcoming Industry Meetings and Webinars - December 16 - January 15, 2025

Here are the industry webinars and events I'm aware of for December 16 - January 15. Conferences and bigger events are listed through March 31, 2025 because they have longer lead times. I don't have anything to do with any of these from a planning perspective, so please reach out to the individual event producers with any questions. Note also that I generally don't include training courses in this list.

If you know of a webinar or other event during this period that is focused on IM, IG, RM, etc. that's not listed, let me know here or at jesse.wilkins@athroconsulting.com. Vendors, other associations, consultants, etc. all welcome as long as the event is educational and not completely self-serving, e.g., no demos. No charge to list your event or to access the list.

ARMA International Soliciting Nominations for the Board of Directors

ARMA International has announced it is accepting applications for three Director positions to serve on the ARMA International Board of Directors. The term of service is July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2028. The duties and responsibilities of Directors, as well as limitations on campaigning, are outlined here:

https://cdn.ymaws.com/www.arma.org/resource/resmgr/files/boardelection/2025/elections_and_campaign_polic.pdf

Minimum qualifications: Candidates must be a member in good standing for the immediately preceding five (5) years, and have served for a minimum of one (1) year on the ARMA International Board, an ARMA International committee, or a chapter board, within the past five (5) years as of the time of the candidacy. Candidates are also apparently required to hold the ARMA IGP, ICRM CRM, or "similar designation."

Self'-nominations are accepted; all nominations must be received by December 20, 2024. For more information, including a link to the nomination forms and all other applicable guidance, visit https://www.arma.org/page/Board_ElectionInformation

Editorial note: I find ARMA's position on campaigning to be both somewhat murky and quite overbearing simultaneously. I have been involved in a number of discussions, with other candidates and as a candidate myself in 2007, regarding outside websites, blogs, podcasts, etc.

I would encourage any candidates for the Board of Directors to explicitly disclose any outside communications mechanisms whatsoever and to decide whether putting them on hold for the duration of their Directorship - or transferring or shutting them down entirely - is worth it. I found my service as a Director from 2007-2010 to be incredibly rewarding, but I told the Elections Committee that I would *not* be shutting down my blog - and didn't - and wouldn't. Others have made different choices, but the current guidance and implementation is such that candidates should be aware and make an informed decision.
